Senior Project Accountant
The Opportunity:

This is a full-time position based out of Advanced Power’s Boston office.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Accountant will be a key team member in the management of natural gas-fired and solar power generation projects (“Projects”) in the United States.
As such, he or she, will initially be supporting each Project Controller in the day-to-day accounting functions for the power plants and to establish and maintain solid working relationships with necessary parties during construction and operations of the power plants. This role is expected to grow into servicing additional Projects as they move from the development stage to the financed construction and operation stage.
The candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Perform day to day accounting operations (revenue, expenses, fixed assets) on various Projects and perform end of month closings including reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
- Recording project revenues on a weekly basis and collaborating with the commercial team to reconcile to the internal daily margin reports
- Maintain fixed assets and the associated sub-ledger
- Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations and related financial statements
- Assist with other aspects of the monthly close and reporting process
- Assist with the annual audit of the financial statements
- Assist Project Controllers in preparing monthly reports to the owners (Board), debt providers, and hedge counterparties, including variance analysis and explanations
- Provide support to the Project Controllers for budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and variance analysis
- Assist with the preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, footnotes and accompanying support for annual audit
- Assist with internal controls documentation and implementation
- Assist in preparation of various reports and data requests and answers ad-hoc requests for internal and external reporting customers (partners, lenders, senior management)
- Become/be the team super-user of Workday for financial statement preparation and budget upload and related analytics and help to optimize existing reporting framework for future ease of use by leveraging new technologies/processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting; CPA or CPA candidate is preferred
- At least three years of related general accounting experience; 2 years of public accounting experience is a plus, as well as the following:
- Prioritization
- Highly organized and possess strong attention to detail
- Ability to move fluently from task to task
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for reporting and analysis
- Proficiency in NetSuite and Workday (formerly Adaptive) is a plus
Reporting Structure
This role will report directly to the Vice President, Finance of Asset Management, in the Boston office, with direct supervision by each of the respective power plant Project Controllers.
